$233,288 Awarded in Grants in Second Quarter 2016

The Rising Sun Regional Foundation (RSRF) awarded a total of $233,288 in 17 new grants in the second quarter of 2016. These grants included:

  • $27,075 to the Rising Sun/Ohio County Community School Corporation toward resurfacing of the gym;
  • $7,035 to the City of Rising Sun toward the purchase of recycled picnic tables for the community pool;
  • $23,573 to the South Dearborn Community School Corporation toward the purchase of video production equipment for the art department at the high school;
  • $2,500 to the Ohio County Convention, Tourism, & Visitors Commission toward expenses for the 2016 Regatta;
  • $8,975 to Sea Dragons Swimming (Aurora) toward the purchase of new timing equipment;
  • $25,000 to the Town of Milan toward a soil stabilization project;
  • $15,000 to the City of Aurora toward the start-up of a Bike Share program;
  • $20,752 to the South Ripley Community School Corporation toward the purchase of an online math learning platform and document cameras for its elementary school;
  • $2,500 to the Aurora Riverfront Beautification toward its Red, White, and Boom festival;
  • $7,309 to LifeTime Resources toward matching state funds for a Catch-A-Ride vehicle;
  • $10,827 to Jac-Cen-Del Community School Corporation toward the purchase of playground equipment;
  • $5,000 to South Dearborn Pee Wee Football toward the purchase of a new scoreboard;
  • $5,000 to the Dearborn County Clearinghouse toward the purchase of a walk-in cooler/freezer;
  • $3,000 to the Ohio County Public Library toward the purchase of a new server and back-up system;
  • $7,000 to the Ohio County Commissioners toward the purchase of 3M Hi Intensity road signs;
  • $40,000 to the Town of Napoleon toward expenses associated with the cleanout of wastewater sludge from one of its lagoons; and
  • $22,742 to the Ripley County Court Services toward the purchase of a vehicle for its Community Corrections program.

The Rising Sun Regional Foundation was created in 1994 by the City of Rising Sun, and is now funded by the Rising Star Casino Resort, owned by Full House Resorts, Inc., which makes monthly contributions to the foundation based on a percentage of its Adjusted Gross Revenue. To date, the foundation has received almost $42 million in riverboat funds, of which at least 75% has been granted back to the community.
